July is Good Care Month, an opportunity to recognise the dedication, compassion and professionalism of people working across social care and to celebrate the difference they make every day.
Here at Barrowhill Hall, our 74-bedroom residential and nursing home on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border, good care means taking the time to understand each of our residents as an individual.

For us it’s about listening to our residents, giving them choices, supporting their independence and helping them to continue doing all the things that brings purpose and enjoyment to their lives.

We specialise in caring for those living with dementia and memory loss and we also have a separate modern household, Churnet Lodge, for those living with Young Onset Dementia.
Our home manager, Dania says, “Our philosophy is to care with the heart. Every act of care begins with a caring heart and I’m so proud of all the dedicated team here who go above and beyond for our residents every single day.”

Good care is found in both the important decisions and the smaller everyday moments. It might be supporting a resident with their personal care, helping them stay connected with loved ones or simply taking time to share a cup of tea and a conversation.
This Good Care Month, we’re celebrating the whole Barrowhill Hall team and the commitment they bring to our residents.
